PISTOLS

Snub Pistol

The snub pistol is the Standard Issue COG soldier sidearm, it has a 12-round clip, and the option to zoom. It is a mildly good backup weapon...button mashing the right trigger will give you a pretty fast firing rate, other than that just go for the gorgon, or boltok. Trust Us.

USE: If you're all out of other ammo types.

DON'T USE: If you have all other weapons, and ammo.

ADVANTAGES: Good backup firearm. I Guess.

Boltok Magnum.

The boltok is a high-caliber magnum that fires devastating single-shot blasts. The magnum's powerful rounds are off-set by a slow reload time, and a six-shot cylinder. A perfectly pulled off active reload allows you to fire armour-piercing rounds at a blistering fire rate. The boltok is heavy but small enough to be handled with one hand...making it portable, and a overall good weapon in tight scenarios.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Speeds up fire rate by 90%, Lowers damage by 25%, Fortunately, during active reload you can perform headshots with only 2 shots from very long distances. Also...don't worry the fire rate makes up for the up close damage loss!!!

NOTE: Damage loss on Insane Mode, and Mutiplayer only!!!!

AVANTAGES: Has a zooming ability, and blows off the average locust head in 2 shots. If a locust gets in your face it only takes one shot to the head to take him out.

USE: If you are about to pick up a shield, or use a meatshield...also very powerful as a backup weapon.

DON'T USE: If you are on Insane mode...and don't have a shield.

Gorgon Burst-Pistol

The Gorgan is a high-caliber pistol, with an overall blistering fire-rate. Favorited by the Skorge, and The Kantus. A very handy weapon to use with a shield or a meatshield. This weapon has a insane down rate, I would know because I've been downed by it many times. If you see this weapon you should use it. It has dual-clip action and the hammer and the mechanism inside of the gun work together to shoot the dual clip simultaneously for lethal power.

USE: If you have a meatshield, or if can get your hands on a boomshield

DON'T USE: If you're playing on Insane mode, and you have no portable cover.

ADVANTAGES: Pistol with the fastest firing rate.

ASSAULT RIFLES

Hammerburst II

A heavy and very powerful locust assualt-rifle of high-caliber. This weapon shoots high-velocity rounds at a fast rate of fire, its not fully automatic like the Lancer but its semiautomatic with the stopping power of a bull on steroids. It has a hell of a recoil so its smart to plan your shooting and fan your shots for less recoil and more power. It would be a big mistake getting on the wrong side of this gun. You can also get headshots with this weapon. If you miss their head they have a good chance of just plain dying. In a fire-fight this...reigns supreme.

USE: For everything...long-to-mid ranges and very good primary firearm.

DON'T USE: In an close combat battle, if your enemy has a flamethrower, Lancer, Boomshot, or Mulcher.

ADVANTAGES: Has a far-away scoping ability, great stopping power, and has banana clip for sufficient ammo use.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Increases damage by 25%, and reduces recoil by 10%.

Lancer Assault Rifle.

The game’s main weapon, the Lancer is everyone’s default weapon in multiplayer, and the gun you’ll wield the most in the single-player campaign too. You probably won’t want to be without the Lancer for too long in any scenario – the chainsaw bayonet makes it arguably the game’s strongest melee option, and the gun’s relatively high accuracy makes it good for even mid-to-long range combat.

Chainsaw kills usually feature pretty prominently in versus matches, with rarely a round going by without some unfortunate Gear or Locust being shredded by the Lancer’s saw. One trick that’s often used is to wait behind cover, and as someone’s passing let rip with the chainsaw, taking your unfortunate foe completely by surprise. If you’re in the receiving end of a chainsaw melee attack, the Lancer’s regular fire gives you the chance to stun them, lowering their chainsaw while you move in for the kill.

Don’t rev your chainsaw any more than you have to, however. Skilled Gears players are likely to leap out the way and blow you away with the Shotgun.

USE: Chainsaw up close against just about anything, regular fire close-to-mid range against just about any other ranged weapon.
DON'T USE: Up-close against a shotgun-wielding enemy. This is a classic COG weapon, Go COG...go gangster.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Increases damage by 10%, and accuracy by 5%.

ADVANTAGES: Chainsaw, Fully Automatic.

COVER

Boomshield.

This is a boomshield, it is at first a small shield but once you pick it up it will expand and cover most of your important spots, every mauler in the game is equipped with one of these...(A mauler is a large locust wielding an explosive flail). Anyways...Use this thing in the most intense of combat scenarios such as Horde Wave:50, Campaign on Insane, or in Multiplayer for the baddest of snipers. Stronger than the soft, fleshy meatshield and more durable than most ordinary cover, this thing...is a life saver.

USE: If you are split up in campaign on Insane, or if you are the last one alive in Horde mode.

ADVANTAGES: Well...you really can't go wrong with one of these.

DON'T USE: If you're not playing on Insane, and well...thats simply it!!!

Meatshield

Ahhhh...nothing like feeling an enemy fighting your firm grip over their throat, as they get shot up by their own teammates...the screams ringing in your ears, guns blazing, all in one big moment...Behold the main theme of the game....Portable Cover, Well...you can call it the Meatshield.

USE: If you are getting shot up, in multiplayer, or surrounded.

DON'T USE:If you're alone on Insane mode, and you're getting flanked.

ADVANTAGES: Can be used anywhere, keep your friends close...but keep your enemies closer.

EXPLOSIVES

Mortar

The Mortar fires a large artillary bomb high into the air, and rains down a cluster of instant-killing shells. The Mortar can go all over small maps, but in large maps the Mortar's hands of death cannot not reach very far. The Mortar's hefty size and weight reduces the player's in-game motor skills, and almost slows you to a dead stop. It has a unique firing system where the player can crank up to the desired distance level on the sight and release the shell, and anyone not in a building in that range will face a certain death. The blast radius is big and features a aftershock, which means you should wait until the smoke clears to move. This heavy weapon is at its best when planted into the ground, but if you feel brave and want to fire a shell from the hip...you can do that to. Its is also very handy when fired in large buildings, if you have a death wish and want to take out your enemies go to his hideout and fire off a cluster. Shoot it and watch in rain and you can guarantee that it will capsize and decimate your targets!

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Increases how many explosives and debris are in each major shell, also increases blast radius by 25%, and Shellshock effect lasts 2 seconds longer.

ADVANTAGES: Use it for taking out the largest of creatures in campaign, Mortar Crews, all types of Boomer, and large clusters of enemies.

USE IF: If you see a group of juicy enemies on the horizon, and want it to rain...

DON'T USE: If you're not in a secure area, with good cover or someone to cover you...DO NOT BLINDFIRE.

Torque Bow

The Torque Bow fires high-powered imulsion tipped arrows, that discharge shortly, after impact. The Torque Bows uses a powerful rotation system to transfer energy from the Torque Bow to the arrow, The arrow gets pulled back into the mechanism, and releases the charged energy, causing the arrow to move as fast as a bullet from certain distances. The Torque Bow has a laser projectory aiming system, which is perfect for selective targeting from mid-to-long distances. The more you charge the arrow the faster and more powerful it gets, once the laser sight glows orange-red, the blast radius is bigger and you can pop boomers' heads from long ranges.

USE: If you see big, heavily armoured locust.

DON'T USE: Don't use on normal drones unless you're in multiplayer.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Increases blast radius by 50%, increases laser charge time by 80%.

ADVANTAGES: One-hit kill, selective targeting, One-shot headshots.

Boomshot

A short-to-mid range locust grenade launcher that can easily take down multiple targets in a single shot. This weapon propels a small anti-tank grenade at rapid speeds. Good for putting down big targets, and destroying enemy cover. The ammo is a round-steel casing carrying a small grenade.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Improves blast radius and increases damage by 25%.

USE: If you see multiple enemies, or if people on multiplayer or trying stake out.

DON'T USE: In close range combat.

ADVANTAGES: Perfect for friendly fire, of course...if you're into that kinda thing.

GRENADES

Ink Grenade

The Ink Grenade is actually just a baby nemacyst attached to the bolo grenade, there are small explosive charges on the grenade that blast the little grub into pieces, releasing a green and black lethal poison. Inhale this directly into your lungs....and you're done for sure.

USE: This weapon is ideal for flushing people out of cover and moving them out of house and home. Its an Insta-kill if you stick a unlucky locust with it.

DON'T USE: If you are pinned down and under a heavy amount of fire, or you could just blind-lob it.

ADVANTAGES: Has a poison like no other...

Fragmentation Grenade

A Locust Military Standard Issue Frag Grenade, you will notice the small stainless steel tips on the hard surface of the grenade...those blast off the grenade and penatrate the flesh of any being around it...along with a devastating explosion, of course.

USE: If you want to flush out a large group of enemies from thier cover.

DON'T USE: If you can't get a good throw.

AVANTAGES: Close range grenade tagging.

SHOTGUNS

Gnasher Shotgun

A standerd COG soldier primary weapon. The Gnasher Shotgun has massive stopping power from face-to-face range. It only has a 8-round capacity, that goes down before you know it in a close range fire-fight, but makes up for it with its bone-crushing force, and wide-spread buckshot. However...in Gears 2 its useless, so don't bother unless you have a death-wish.

USE: If you basically want to get downed and raped.

DON'T USE: If well...just don't use.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Makes shots form closer together for 25% more accuracy, and increases damage by 50%.

ADVANTAGES: Well...has none.

SNIPER RIFLES

Longshot Sniper Rifle

The Longshot is a high-powered, bolt-action rifle. With a 6x zoom, this rifle uses 4in. long bullets for deep penetration and long-lasting wounds. The high-powered zoom allows pin-point accuracy from very long ranges. The distant headshot is a very strong advantage over a unlucky locust...but with powerful one-shot rounds, be sure to make every one of your bullets count...there may not be a chance for a second shot.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Increases helmet damage, and overall points per shot.

USE: From long-to-very-long ranges to get headshots, if you're going to snipe, be stealthy...take a shot and change position.

DON'T USE: From toe-to-toe combat, definately not a weapon for close quarters.

ADVANTAGES: Has the longest range of all the weapons, and has the most powerful single-shot.

OTHER

Hammer Of Dawn

This weapon has quite a history to it, the weapon that we used to bomb our own civlization from the large locust horde. The weapon itself shoots very specific targeting coordinates from the place you're aiming at, all the way to earth's outer orbit to the global tracking sattelites. It is powered by an imulsion battery, the most pure source of energy on the planet of Sera. To create a massive photon beam, leveling everything in its wake.

USE: To take out massive creatures, and clear an area from the sneakiest of locusts.

DON'T USE: If you're in toe-to-toe combat with a locust enemy, bad at short range.

ADVANTAGES: To create a large distraction, and is the only weapon with Global Covering.

( Imulsion Batteries are sold at the Land-down gas station for $26.00.)

Mulcher

The Mulcher is a rapid-firing portable turret that is highly effective when set over a ledge or a type of cover. The Mulcher is a Heavy Weapon, so it lowers your speed, and changes your movement. You can still fire it when not on cover but the bullet-stream will be very inaccurate from long to mid distances. It has a small crank which players can turn to push out the Lead. After a short amount of constant fire the Mulcher will overheat, causing you to be a sitting duck if you're not in cover…wait for it to cool, then kill again if you wish.

DON'T USE: If you don't have good cover or are low on ammo.

ADVANTAGES: Only weapon that truly allows you to mow down your enemies like grass.

USE IF:  If you have good cover, and see your enemies coming, perfect for flanking...and last stands.

HAS NO ACTIVE RELOAD. BUT A COOLING SYSTEM INSTEAD.

Scorcher Flamethrower

This is a Flamethrower, the lights are powered by a imulsion-charged battery...just as all the lights on the weapons are, maybe. This has a very small fuel tank from around 3 to 5 gallons. The tank is protected by a quarter-inch thick plate of steel, to prevent bullet holes and leakage. This flamthrower uses a deadly magnesium-based fuel burning at 3600 degrees Fahrenheit. At the bottom of the weapon there is a small tank of nitrogen and propane compounds. It has a State-of-the-Art pressure system pushing the mixed stream of magnesium fuel and Gas compounds rapidly out of the nozzle. This flamethrower could fry a cow in 5 seconds flat, and turn steel into a molten pile of scap.

ADVANTAGES: Perfect for blind-firing around corners, clearing out rooms, and close quarters combat.

ACTIVE RELOAD EFFECTS: Applies more air-pressure, causing flames to spurt much farther, increases distance by 35%, Increases spread out range by 10%.

USE: Close Quarters hands down, hide behind a wall, in a room, or even on a set of stairs!

DON'T USE: On a guy that has a sniper rifle, Hammerburst or Lancer, Mulcher, or Mortar.
