The Story.....Timeline.

"Humans are no strangers to war. After all, we've been fighting for as long as we can remember." "War is all we know."

The Pendulum Wars

Following a global energy crisis, the governments of Sea waged war for control of the plant's natural resources. The Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) won this decades-long conflict, but at great cost to human live and the environment.

"In the past, we fought for imulsion. We fought for country. We fought for freedom."

Imulsion

During the Era of Silence, the people of Sera knew a time of unprecedented peace. It was a golden age for culture, science, and the arts, but it abruptly ended when fossel fuels grew scarce. Helen Cooper's refinement process for the energy-rich substance known as Imulsion ended the Seran energy crisis, but Seran governments soon went to battle over the precious resource, leading to the "Pendulum Wars".

"But all that changed after E-Day (Emergance Day)." "For fifteen years, we've been fighting for our very survival against inhuman, genocidal monsters... but it is a fight we cannot continue."

"Humanity faces extinction..."

E-Day

Reeling from the human and environmental toll of the Pendulum Wars, The Seran populace proved ill-prepared for the sudden attack from the underground carried out by the species known as the Locust Horde. This dark day in human history became known as Emergence Day [or "E-Day"]. Nearly a quarter of the human population died within a matter of days. The origins of the Locust and the reasones for their attack remain a mystery.

"The Lucky Died on E-Day."

This saying gives a chilling reminder of the bleak nature of existence on Sera after E-Day. Most Serans lost everything that day----wives, husbands, children, homes. The locust spared nothing. Thousands of people are still unaccounted for, and rumors abound on the whereabouts of the missing. Theories range from the implausible ("the Locust eat humans") to the likely ("the Locust are taking prisoners").

"...unless we end this war now."

Operation Lifeboat

Faced with a rapidly diminishing supply of military personnel, the COG chairman issued the executive order known as Operation Lifeboat. Under this order, those left off of ther plateau of Jacinto in the years following E-Day---a group of people known as "the Stranded"--could enlist in the COG army in exchange for financial support for there families. The Stranded invented the Mortar and the Flamethrower, out of military supplies.

Delta Squad

Marcus Fenix

Sergeant Marcus Fenix, a veternan of the Pendulum Wars, is one of the most decorated gears currently serving. Although he was imprisoned for attempting to rescue his fater in defiance of orders, Sergeant Fenix was pardoned, and has proven his unique value to the COG army many times.

Dominic "Dom" Santiago

Fenix's best friend, Corporal Dominic Santiago puts loyalty first. Dom lost two children on E-Day, and his wife, Maria disappeared four years later when that day's trauma became too much. To this day, Dominic searches for her.

Augustus "Cole Train" Cole
A former professional thrashball star, Augustus Cole molded himself into one of the COG'S ultimate soldiers. As he did inhis professional sports career, Cole dives into the action with calculated abandon, keeping an eye on the larger goal: defeating the enemy.
